Gold for Éva Borka at the 2025 IPPY Awards
We’re proud to share that The Way of the Heart by Éva Borka has been awarded Gold in the Poetry category at the 2025 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPYs).
This beautifully produced collection brings together Éva’s bold, expressive artwork with her lyrical and deeply felt poetry. The award recognises not only the emotional power of her work but the craftsmanship of the book as a whole — something we were honoured to help bring to life.
Éva is a Wellington-based artist and poet, and an award-winning author of three books blending her paintings and poems. Born in Chile to Hungarian parents, she moved to New Zealand as a child — a country she now calls home. Although largely self-taught, Éva credits her early artistic education to her grandmother, a gifted artist, poet, and craftswoman.
After years in senior corporate and consulting roles, Éva followed the pull of her creative passions, opening a studio gallery and dedicating herself fully to painting and poetry. Her work is inspired by people, relationships, identity, and connection — often drawing on folk traditions and her Hungarian heritage, as well as the natural beauty of Aotearoa.
Her paintings and poems have been exhibited and published in Aotearoa and Europe, and are held in both public and private collections. The Way of the Heart is a reflection of her artistic life — honest, vibrant, and full of soul.
We couldn’t be more delighted to see Éva’s work recognised on the international stage.
