Anna's Portfolio

Anna has been in the book industry for as long as she can remember. She paid her way through university by illustrating for Australian publisher Elsevier and the Samoan Government. After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English at Otago University, she went travelling before coming back to start her career as a designer and typesetter. Although she had been typesetting since her late teens, from 2005 onwards she learnt all the finer points of book design from Mary Egan. At the end of 2010 she scored her dream job as an inhouse designer at Penguin Books (NZ).  She thoroughly enjoyed the year and a half that she was there and learnt a great deal about the collaborative process of making great books. "There is something very special about the book design process and I feel very lucky to have a job that I adore."

Anna recently won the 2012 Hachette New Zealand Award for Best Non-Illustrated Book at the PANZ Book Design Awards.
