Are My Thoughts Worth Listening To? is the second title in Becky Overeem’s Thoughts & Feelings series, following Is My Worry Worth Worrying About?

Perfect for children aged 5–9, this engaging picture book helps young readers recognise and challenge negative self-talk in a way that is simple, practical, and empowering.

When overwhelming thoughts take hold, a young child discovers a clever strategy: turning those thoughts into a character they can question, challenge, and talk back to. As confidence grows, the thoughts begin to lose their power.

With Becky Overeem’s warm, reassuring voice and Sarah Trolle’s vibrant illustrations, this is a standout resource for homes, classrooms, and counselling settings.

An essential addition for anyone supporting children to build confidence, resilience, and a healthier relationship with their inner voice.

About the Author

Becky Overeem grew up as the eldest of five adopted children. Born in Auckland, she spent part of her childhood in Fiji and her teenage years in the Solomon Islands. At 18, she returned to New Zealand to attend Teachers College, where she met her husband, Yaron. When her daughters, Chloe and Sophie, were in high school, Becky trained as a school chaplain. Passionate about mental health and education, she now runs her own business in Whangarei, creating teaching and mental health resources.
